I was quoted in this weeks Boston Business Journal. The article focused on discrimination and older workers. In my experience in both recruiting and outplacement, I find that the issue isn't really age it is whether or not the person is current. Do they understand what is happening in the marketplace, in youth culture, and in technology.
I've had folks ask me about getting plastic surgery before they go out into the marketplace after they have been laid off. I usually tell them it isn't necessary but it does make sense to do an assessment of your current image: wardrobe, technology, and accessories.
